First day of bike commuting

Today for the first time in my life I rode my bike to work, and back home again. The ride itself went quite well. Every time I ride though I notice things that need fixing in order to achieve cycling bliss. After getting home I took a shower, and headed to Robby's (matchboy) birthday party at tuche where to my immediate disappointment it was a smoky place. I had just washed my coat the other day to get the smoke smell out, and I was so happy with how clean it was. I think every time I wash it it does it's job of keeping out the elements a little less well. I had to take a shower again as soon at I got home. But while I was there I had quite a bit of fun. One of Robby's friend's Melissa had a courier bag with a light on it, and I immediately knew she was a cyclist, and asked if she got there on a bike. She said she had been bike commuting for about a year, and that it has made her so much happier, and I learned a lot from talking to her. I want to have bike commuting be the new normal for me. It's been my goal since June, and it has been a lot of work to get to where I can finally do it. Hopefully in another six months I will be in a lot better shape, and feel like a member of the bike community.

I find that just letting clothes air out will get the smoke smell out. Especially sturdy clothes like gore-tex-y jackets and stuff. Of course, that means you can't wear it, but...
