Sandy River

About a month ago I went to the Sandy river with Christina, April, Jim, and Colleen. It was a lot of fun, and I keep wanting to go again. So this weekend I would like to go someplace with a beach, and water, and fun times with friends. It's supposed to be hot. Anyone want to come along? I can't have fun times with friends unless friends come along.

Also I got paid by my new job today. Life is good, and I feel like celebrating.

How warm is the water, anyway? Sandy seems like it would be hella-cold, compared to the Columbia towards Sauvie Island...

It was warmer than the Columbia if I remember correctly.

Hm, interesting. Then again, last time I had gone in the Sandy River was near it's headwaters up by Elk Meadows (I wonder what it looks like now since it's been ablaze recently) while backpacking. The bridge over the Sandy River that far up got washed out in a flood in 1982 and was never rebuilt, but the trail remains open. We had to just waterproof our gear and make sure everything like bedding was in a watertight container and ford it. Even in the middle of August, it was snowmelt cold, enough of a shock on a 90 degree day it made us all dizzy.
