Job opportunity that I want badly

Today I came across a job that I want badly. I wouldn't quite sell my soul to get it, but I really really want it. I feel that I am fully capable to do the job. I need people to write character refrences, and I need to write a cover letter. So much to have perfect in less than a week. I think it is the fact that it is weekdays during the day that I like best about it. Or maybe that it is government, and thus I won't get laid off at the drop of a hat.

Ahh but the trick is getting the job. I know I can do the job well, but can I get it. That is the question.

Government jobs have a different method of choosing the big boss. In a larg private company it tends to be someone who is greedy. In a government workplace the top position is either elected, or selected by an elected official. This means that if your main boss is an ass you can make a big fuss, and at the next election they don't get to keep their job. You boss can't profit from being an ass in the long run.

Intel hires thousands of people, and then lays them off again. The dot com boom was followed by a bust. Job security in the tech sector is rare. Working for the government you are less likely to loose your job just because the economy is in a crunch. If they kill your job to save money they will end up paying you unemployment, or welfare. So they wouldn't end up saving all that much.

Government jobs have great job security, good working conditions, and excelent benifits.

Considering how sleepy I was when I wrote it... It probably doesn't make sense.
