In the last week I learned that someone I know is recovering from a shark attack. Gary Turner was in my Cub Scouts Den. I think Den #5 with a total of 6 kids. I kept in touch with him until sometime after highschool.

According to "http://www.sharkresearchcommittee.com/interactions.htm"
"the total number of authenticated cases of unprovoked shark attacks that were recorded from the entire Pacific Coast of North America during the Twentieth Century was only 108". I should ask Gary if he plays the lottery.

Oh yeah, a link to the story. http://www.komotv.com/stories/20471.htm

Wow...the article didn't really go into details about the extent of his injuries, so I hope he's okay. :\

This happened over a month ago. I think I heard about it along the lines of...

Mom: He is limping around work
Me: Why is he limping?
Mom: Didn't I tell you about a month ago that he got attacked by a shark?

I haven't talked to him in years. Maybe I should.

The beauty of the Oregon coast is not being able to feel your legs in the water. Not even when a shark bites you.

Cold, Deep water currents originating in the glacier fed gulf of Alaska are fun like that.
